"Health Issues Prevented My Appearance Before The EFCC" - Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria
Asource from the EFCC has disclosed to BBC Hausa that former minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management And Social Development, Hajiya Safiya Umar Farouk did non honor the invitation sent to her by the commission.
In the report, the former minister who is accused of involvement is a 37.1bn Naira has appealed to the EFCC to give her more time as she is currently battling with health issues.
Many news platforms in Nigeria has reported that the former minister did not honor the invitation sent to her by the EFCC.
Earlier last week, Mrs. Farouq has released a statement, in which she denied involvement in the alleged corruption saga. She also debunked knowing the contractor that was arrested by the EFCC officials in the course of it's investigation on the case.
A source from the EFCC on Wednesday confirmed to BBC that the commission was expecting the arrival of the former minister during Buhari's administration in it's office in Abuja.
"However, The Punch News Paper has reported that officers of the EFCC has waited for hours looking forward to her arrival, but the minister did not show up. No official explanation has been given to the commission by Sadiya on the reason she failed to appear."
EFCC invited her since last week to come and explain an alleged corruption in her ministry in the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement on her X page, the former minister has said;
"There have been a number of reports linking me to a purported investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the activities of one James Okwete, someone completely unknown to me....."
