Kaduna Electric Workers To Start Strike At Midnight

Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company's workers are set for industrial action which will commence on Thursday 4th January 2024, at 12am.

The strike action is following inability of the electricity distribution company to meets its obligation to pay workers' salaries on the nail as it's contained in the company's conditions of service document.
In a letter signed by it's North/West Zonal Organizing Secretary I, on 3rd January, the National Union Of Electricity Employess (NUEE) has expressed the union's dissatisfaction over the company's attitude of provocative method of selective payment of salary, which is contrary to the provision of the company's conditions of service.

He also accused company of failure to implement the agreement reached with the management concerning workers of the company.

Kaduna Electric KAEDCO., is one of the 11 electricity distribution companies (DISCOS) in Nigeria, whose franchise States includes Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

Residents of these states has started expressing fears over the planed industrial action, as it may affect businesses and welfare of their communities.

President Bola Tinubu has signed the N28.7 trillion 2024 Budget into law. He assented to the 2024 Appropriation Bill at a brief ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. Among those with the President while he signed were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas.
