Over 1tr Naira Needed To Completed Abuja-Kaduna Road Rehabilitation.
The minister of works and housing of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. David Umahi has disclosed that construction company Julius Berger demanded over one trillion Naira to completed full rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kaduna express way.
In his meeting with the Directors in his ministry in Abuja, the minister said in the beginning, one hundred and sixty five billion naira was budgeted for the rehabilitation of the road, which later increased to six hundred and fifty four billion.
The honorable minister has said the federal government have no plans of paying the new cost because of the tough financial realities the country is experiencing.
Daily Trust news paper has reported that the contract was awarded in 2017, but the work kicked off in 2018
The work which is one of the Buhari's administration projects ought to have been completed in the year 2021.
However, the road reconstruction was not completed during Buhari's administration, but more than 50% of the project was achieved.
