Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Staff Embarked on indefinite strike

The staff of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has embarked on indefinite strike at 00:00hrs of today, Tuesday 12th March 2024.
The industrial action was declared by the National Union Of Electricity Employees NUEE, as a response to the Company's failure to meet it's financial obligations as contained in the conditions of service document of the company

The Head office of the company that is situated in Kaduna State has been shutdown by the Union. All area offices across the franchise states of the company has been shutdown.

The staff of the company were sighted this morning protesting and demanding for increased welfare, suspension of plans to sack 1000 workers, payment of 70 months pending pension remittances and other vital obligations as contained in the company's conditions of service.

The management of the company has expressed dissatisfaction over the development. The management has advised the union to suspend the strike immediately to avoid hardship that this action is likely to cause to the public due to high demand of their services.

The ongoing strike will affect all the States in the Kaduna DisCo's franchise which includes Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States.

President Bola Tinubu has signed the N28.7 trillion 2024 Budget into law. He assented to the 2024 Appropriation Bill at a brief ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. Among those with the President while he signed were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas.
